Florida Nurses & Advanced Nurses

  • 24 hours of appropriate continuing education every 2 years, including a one-time, 1 hour on HIV/AIDS CE requirement to be completed prior to the first renewal, 2 hours on Prevention of Medical Errors, 2 hours of Domestic Violence from a Florida-approved provider to be completed every 3rd renewal. Beginning with biennium ending in 2015, a 2 hour course on Florida nursing laws & rules is required.

Georgia

30 contact hours for RN beginning with license renewals January 31, 2016.

20 contact hours for LPN beginning with license renewals March 31, 2017.

District of Columbia

24 hours in current area of practice for RN and APRN (including 15 Pharmacology hours in area of practice for APRN); 18 hours for LPN.

South Carolina

At least one of the following for RN:

  • 30 contact hours
  • national certification
  • completion of an academic program of study in nursing or a related field
  • verification of competency and the number of hours practiced as evidenced by employer certification

National Certification for APRN

Arkansas

Must complete 2 of the following:
  • 30 contact hours
  • 30 hours professional nursing activities
  • 320 hours nursing employment
